Work Camps as Your Summer Choice
Olya Bezvushko

If you want to improve your fluency in foreign language, like German, French, Spanish, or in any other think about participating in a foreign language workout. Each workcamp is a union of around 10-20 volunteers from about 15 different countries. There is a designated language in each workcamp in which all participants must have at least some experience. The most common are language workcamps where English is the main language, still there are many European Workcamps that acquire Spanish, French or German proficiency. So, here you can make new friendships and communicate exclusively in the foreign language for a couple of weeks. This is a very good option for those, who want to test their abilities and became fluent in their language of study.

Every workcamp is different, but you can expect to work up to six hours a day in any kind of them. Then you can spend your free time with co-workers. Most workcamps organize different outings, such as hiking, rafting or kayaking. You can choose a workcamp where you will live either in a tent or in a hostel-like environment.
You may find yourself in Western or Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America or in one of the Soviet Union Republics. The work depends on your preferences, and it may be anything from educating orphans in a city to building trails in a rainforest.

No matter what type of workcamp you decide to join, you will certainly become part of an international group of as many as 20 volunteers who will share your passion for traveling, learning other countries, assisting the positive changes in the world and their previous experiences.

You can start to look for a camp by selecting a country, you would like to see. Then you have to pick up a placement agency.
